The Texas Education Agency released the 2023 A–F Accountability Ratings this week, the first in their new rating scale. The bar for excellence across all Texas Public Schools has been raised significantly. For example, in the College, Career, and Military Readiness domain, the standard for an “A” rose from 60% to 88% readiness among graduating seniors.
Nonetheless, I am proud to share that our academies continue to show strong performance on the state metrics. Since 2019, we have seen remarkable enrollment growth across our network, and our commitment to excellence remains steadfast.
According to the 2023 TEA accountability scores, our growing Title I campuses—Great Hearts Western Hills, Live Oak, and Arlington—steadily closed learning gaps. Established schools like Northern Oaks, Monte Vista, and Irving Upper School continue their high standing among charter schools and ISDs.
These results reflect the extraordinary dedication of our teachers, headmasters, and staff, the strength of our classical education model, and the dedication of parents and families who make learning successful.
STAAR scores and TEA ratings are important measures, but they are not the full measure. Our overriding goal is the development of children in the pursuit of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
We expect to receive the TEA’s 2024 and 2025 accountability ratings in the coming months, but the 2023 results will help inform our planning for next year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wade Dyke
Superintendent, Great Hearts Texas
