Celebrating Student-Athletes: Sarah Livesay & Caden Collins Receive Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarships

At Great Hearts Texas, we believe in the power of classical education to shape well-rounded scholars—individuals who pursue academic excellence while cultivating character and leadership.

This year, we are thrilled to recognize two outstanding student-athletes who have exemplified these values: Sarah Livesay of Great Hearts Monte Vista and Caden Collins of Great Hearts Northern Oaks. Both seniors were awarded $7,500 Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarships, a prestigious honor celebrating high-achieving student-athletes across Bexar County.

Scholar Spotlight: Sarah Livesay (Great Hearts Monte Vista)

Sarah Livesay, senior and varsity swim team captain at Great Hearts Monte Vista, was one of several GHMV seniors nominated for this scholarship based on rigorous eligibility criteria. Her selection is a testament to her dedication in the classroom and in the pool, where she has led her team with perseverance and excellence.
The Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship brings Sarah’s total number of scholarships awarded to close to $310,000, reflecting her academic merit and outstanding leadership. Several colleges have recognized her achievements with generous financial packages, underscoring her potential for future success.

Sarah was officially honored at an awards luncheon on December 17th alongside other top student-athletes from Bexar County. As part of the recognition, she and fellow scholarship recipients were invited onto the field during the first quarter of the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 28th, a moment celebrating their hard work and bright futures.

Great Hearts Monte Vista is incredibly proud of Sarah and her remarkable accomplishments. Her journey inspires her fellow scholars and proves that dedication to athletics and academics can open doors to endless opportunities.

Scholar Spotlight: Caden Collins (Great Hearts Northern Oaks)

Caden Collins, a Great Hearts Northern Oaks senior, has also been recognized for his exceptional achievements, receiving the $7,500 Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship for his academic and athletic excellence.

A four-year varsity basketball standout, Caden has made an indelible mark on GHNO’s athletic program. As a two-time team captain, he has scored over 1,700 career points while accumulating impressive stats in assists, rebounds, and steals. His leadership on and off the court has been a defining feature of his time at GHNO.

Beyond athletics, Caden has excelled in the classroom. He was admitted to Texas A&M University’s College of Engineering, where he plans to further his education. His achievement reflects the well-rounded education and character formation that Great Hearts Texas instills in its scholars.

Like Sarah, Caden was honored at the December 17th Valero Alamo Bowl awards luncheon and recognized on the field during the December 28th game. He joins a distinguished group of past GHNO scholarship recipients, demonstrating the school’s continued commitment to fostering academic and athletic excellence.
