Great Hearts Texas Welcomes John M. Pritchett to the Board of Directors

Veteran civic leader and education advocate to support the continued growth of our Texas academies.

Great Hearts Texas is pleased to announce the appointment of John M. Pritchett to the Great Hearts Texas Board of Directors. As a new board member and founding family member at Great Hearts Lakeside in Fort Worth, Mr. Pritchett brings nearly three decades of experience in public leadership and organizational stewardship, along with a deep, firsthand commitment to classical education as the father of Great Hearts scholars.

Over a 29-year career in government and politics—spanning service “from the White House to the courthouse”—Mr. Pritchett has worked for leaders, including President George W. Bush, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Texas Supreme Court Justices, and members of Congress. From 2017 to 2019, he stepped away from political consulting to serve as the Founding President of Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Prep, leading the school through its feasibility study, initial academic years, fundraising efforts, and the acquisition of a permanent campus. In recent years, Mr. Pritchett has shifted his work focus out of government and politics to the energy sector as an independent oil and gas landman.

In 2020, the Pritchetts became a founding family with the opening of Great Hearts Lakeside. As a parent, Mr. Pritchett says he was drawn to Lakeside with other Fort Worth families who “want their children to learn in an environment that recognizes reality and truth,” where academics and character formation go hand-in-hand. “If you know where you come from, what you’re made of, and you’ve built habits and virtues, you’ll be ready for the future,” he adds. “We’re here to make great hearts—the fruit of that formation will be excellent professionals, tradesmen, entrepreneurs, and workers—but, more importantly, great men and women who build strong families and serve their communities.”

Our Board is confident that Mr. Pritchett’s leadership experience will strengthen our position to grow and support our academies. We are grateful for his service and excited for the partnership he brings to forming students in Truth, Goodness, and Beauty—so they may flourish in college, career, and life.  His appointment was made by the board last week, with the endorsement of Great Hearts America.

Please join us in welcoming John M. Pritchett to the Great Hearts Texas Board of Directors.
